我嘗試在《不是舞池》中反轉了一般互動裝置和跳舞遊戲的思維模式。通過動態追蹤技術,以「靜止」為核心創作了一個獨特的「舞池」。在這裡,靜止不再是動作的缺席,而是成為了作品的主要元素。當強勁的音樂與燈光充斥著整個空間時,參與者往往難以抵抗舞動的誘惑,然而這種對動與靜的拉扯正正挑戰著參與者的自制力。裝置一旦偵測到移動,所有的效果便會停止。 這作品同時測試著感應系統的極限,更將靜止轉化為一種特殊的表演形態。

在《不是舞池》現場示範中,舞者在熟悉的跳舞歌曲下面對了一個獨特的處境:在遊戲規則與表演慾望之間取得平衡。當移動會讓所有效果停止時,「該不該舞動」成為了關鍵的抉擇,或許真正的表演存在於克制的過程之中。
In Not a Dance Floor, I attempt to subvert the usual understanding of interactive installations and dance games. Using motion tracking technology, this work reimagines the dance floor as a space where stillness becomes the primary artistic medium. Within this installation, stillness transcends its conventional role as mere absence of movement to emerge as the work’s fundamental element. As music and lighting fill the entire space, participants often find it hard to resist the temptation to dance, creating a tension between motion and stillness that challenges their self-control. Once the installation detects movement, all effects cease. This work not only probes the sensing system’s limits but transforms stillness into a unique form of performative expression.
Not a Dance Floor – live demonstration
In the live demonstration of Not a Dance Floor, the dancer encountered a unique situation under familiar dance music: striking a balance between following game rules and their natural urge to perform. When movement would cease all effects, “to dance or not to dance” became the crucial decision – perhaps the true performance lies in the very act of restraint itself.
